Spain’s World Cup Qualifiers Campaign Success Continues

Posted on 16 November 2025

La Roja’s victory in the Georgia vs Spain World Cup qualifier on Saturday, November 15, virtually ensured their qualification for the 2026 World Cup. La Furia Roja, who are the European champions, have 15 points from five matches after their 4-0 win on Saturday.

Needless to say, they are at the top of their qualifying group. On current form, they are one of the three best national teams in Europe, alongside France and Norway.

Georgia vs Spain Records Another Perfect Result

After a dominant win in the Georgia vs Spain fixture, the Spaniards have now scored a whopping 19 goals in their qualifying campaign so far. The most astonishing fact is that they have yet to concede any. It is an outstanding record, even considering the fact that the Spaniards did not have much competition in their group aside from the one offered by Turkiye.

Spain’s victory over Georgia included a brace from Mikel Oyarzabal. 28-year-old Oyarzabal has now scored five goals in his qualification campaign. Overall, he has 21 goals in 50 international appearances for Spain. The Real Sociedad striker will be one of his team’s key players in the 2026 World Cup. He will be aided by Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams, the most exciting winger duo in the world at the moment.

Martin Zubimendi has also cemented his place in the Spanish national team, and his name was also on the scoring sheet on Saturday. With Rodri having injury concerns frequently these days, it is now up to Zubimendi, Pedri and Fabian Ruiz to dictate terms in the midfield, which they have been doing happily.

The Spaniards’ defensive solidity is an underrated trait. The fact that they dominated the ball mostly helps their defenders reorganise themselves. In Pedro Porro and Marc Cucurella, they have two very able full-backs, and Robin Le Normand is a very dependable centre-back. Unai Simon, the goalkeeper, is not called into action frequently, but usually does a nice job whenever the need arises.

Can Spain Win Second World Cup Title in 2026?

Spain will undoubtedly be among the favourites to win the 2026 World Cup. The Spaniards have one of the best squads on paper, and their recent form has been second to none. A lot of teams play possession-based football these days, but hardly any other team strings passes as effortlessly as the Spaniards.

Still, success in major tournaments always boils down to doing well on a few big nights in the latter stages. It then becomes as much a question of nerve and temperament as it is of ability.

The good thing for Spain is that they will retain the majority of players who won the 2024 Euros in Germany for the 2026 World Cup.

Players like Rodri and Pedri have won big titles for their respective clubs and will provide the necessary experience in the Spaniards’ World Cup campaign. Luis de la Fuente is a level-headed coach and knows how to extract the best from his players.

And if the Georgia vs Spain game said anything, it’s that it looks very promising for the Spaniards in general, and that they are genuinely one of the superpowers of world football.
