Bii’s learning institution was among the first to congratulate her for the incredible achievement.

“Our very own Winny Bii, Texas A&M student athlete who most recently won the NCAA triple jump outdoor national championships, just broke the Kenyan outdoor triple jump national record!

The encouraging performances came a few weeks after Bii clinched the prestigious NCAA title after recording a jump of 13.96m.

In New Jersey, Bii finished ahead of Emilia Sjostrand and Agur Dwol, who managed jumps of 13.88m and 13.77m in that order.

The recent display increases her chance of representing Kenya at the Tokyo World Athletics Championships 2025 that is set to be held between September 13 and September 21 in Japan through the global ranking quota.

Should Bii bag the ticket to the much awaited event, she will become the first Kenyan ever to compete at the world athletics championships.

The athlete, who is pursuing a masters in sports business management, will join the likes of Beatrice Chebet, Agnes Ngetich, Jacob Krop and Ishmael Kipkurui, who have already secured their tickets to Tokyo.
