It seems that despite everything, Google has confirmed the rumors about the postponement of Android 14 to the month of October. While the September update has been awaited on its Pixels for several weeks, it’s finally here… but still on Android 13. So we’re moving more and more towards an early October deployment.
That’s the big question Android users are asking themselves this month. When does Google plan to roll out Android 14, the next major update? In fact, this traditionally takes place at the beginning of the school year, between the end of August and the beginning of September. But this year the Mountain View company seems to have fallen behind in development, as there is no update in sight yet.
At the beginning of September, a rumor spread that Google had postponed the release date of its operating system. A new date will then be unofficially announced: October 4th. However, some were still hoping that Android 14 would land on Pixels with the September update. Ultimately, this will not be the case.
The deployment of Android 14 in October is becoming increasingly clear
Here’s another long overdue update. Generally, Google rolls out its monthly updates on its smartphones on the first Monday of the month. We therefore had to wait several weeks for availability, more than a week later than the last security patch for the Pixel Watch. Of course, Android 14 is not included in this update.

Instead, there are the usual security fixes and other performance improvements. Google also says that a critical bug has been fixed. We therefore recommend that you do not delay installing the patch. The latter is available for all smartphones in the series, starting with the Pixel 4a 5G as well as the Pixel Tablet and Pixel Fold.
As far as Android 14 is concerned, everything now points to October 4th being the right date. It’s certain that Google will use the launch of the Pixel 8 to announce the news. A little more patience.
