Gabriel Increases The Hype Surrounding Arsenal Wonderkid As He Claims He’s “Never Seen” A Player Like Him Before

Arsenal defender Gabriel says he has been blown away by the talent of youngster Max Dowman.

Asked in an interview about who is the most skilful player in training, Gabriel named the 15-year-old. He then explained what makes the teenager stand out:

“This guy is unbelievable, I’ve never seen something like him on the pitch.”

Dowman has already shown what he can do in preseason, and he has also impressed in some of his first senior appearances, getting an assist after winning a penalty during the 5-0 win over Leeds in August.

Arteta is gradually integrating the youngster

Based on Gabriel’s remarks, there is clearly plenty of excitement inside the dressing room about Dowman’s potential.

The fact that he was even training with the first team last season demonstrates that manager Mikel Arteta is very much aware of how good he is as well.

While some fans would throw Dowman into the team straight away, Arteta is being a lot more cautious.

Dowman has been included in the majority of matchday squads this season, but he has also been playing for the Under-21s to give him more minutes. It is important not to forget that he is still only 15, so his experience of senior football is very limited.

When will Dowman start his first game for Arsenal?

Some expected Arteta to name him in the starting eleven for the Carabao Cup third round match against Port Vale last month, but he didn’t, deciding to send him on as a substitute for the final 30 minutes instead.

Based on that decision, fans may have to wait a while for Dowman to make his full debut, unless there is an injury crisis of some kind. The first FA Cup tie in January would likely be the next opportunity for him to be handed a start.
